RECRUIT

We, at Tokyo International Law Office, are involved in many international deals and cross-border transactions, and we assist many Japanese clients on various legal matters, including M&A, corporate law, competition law, disputes, and IP. The preferred lawyer for a position in our office is an experienced attorney who has graduated with academic distinction from a premier law school. Japanese proficiency is welcomed, but it is not required. Applicants interested in a position at our firm should email us at recruit@tkilaw.com

PRACTICESAreas of Practice

  • M&A

Our lawyers have a strong track record in outbound M&A transactions conducted by Japanese companies, joint venture projects with Japanese and foreign partners and inbound M&A transactions conducted by foreign investors in Japan.

We have also been involved in many domestic M&A transactions, such as buy-outs, tender offers, mergers, carve-outs and joint ventures.

Our strength is in deeply comprehending the business strategy of our clients and proactively managing the entire deal. We coordinate smoothly with other professionals, including foreign counsels, so that we can lead our clients to ultimate success.

  • Cross-border Disputes

If one looks closely into the background of international disputes, the root cause of such disputes is often the differences between the parties’ norms, values and culture.

Based on our wealth of experience in cross-border legal matters, we act to bridge the gap between the parties and to resolve disputes efficiently.

If a dispute goes to court, we manage and handle the legal procedures strategically utilizing our experience in cross-border dispute resolution and our global network.

  • Regulatory

As companies conduct their business activities across the globe, they are also subject to a number of different laws and regulations, such as anti-trust, anti-bribery, privacy and anti-money laundering, in various jurisdictions.

Notably, governmental authorities in many jurisdictions are now cooperating with each other. As a result, companies are increasingly subject to multi-jurisdictional investigations or enforcement actions.

Many companies must properly handle regulatory matters in each jurisdiction while simultaneously maintaining consistency with their global strategy.

Based on our wealth of experience in cross-border legal matters, we assist our clients in properly handling such complicated global investigations and minimizing the negative effects caused by such incidents.

We strive to build a global strategy and implement such strategy in each jurisdiction with our global network.

  • Cross-border Strategic Advisory Service

As many companies conduct their business activities around the globe, the number of jurisdictions with which companies must deal is increasing.

Based on our wealth of experience in cross-border legal matters and our extensive global network, we provide advisory services specializing in cross-border legal strategy, such as investigations of the legislation in any jurisdiction, referrals and appropriate management of local law firms and support for advancement overseas.

Please feel free to contact us for further details of our services.
